The deal

These terms are an agreement between you and Zinance Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of Ontario, Canada ("Zinance", "we", "us"), for the Manhunt (formerly Assassin) app and its website, at manhunt.wtf and assassin.wtf. By using either, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Manhunt.

Who can play

  • You must be 13 or older.
  • If you're under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), a parent or guardian must agree to these terms with you and is responsible for your use of Manhunt.
  • You can't use Manhunt if we've banned you, and you can't make a new account to get around a ban.

You can play as a guest without an account, tied to your device. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Sign in with Apple is optional and keeps your stats across devices.

Playing in the real world

Manhunt is played outdoors, on foot, often running and sometimes at night. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety. By playing you agree to:

  • follow the safety rules: no roads or railways, no private property, be visible at night, stay in the zone, play with people you know;
  • tag only with a light touch, and never grab, push, trip, tackle or chase anyone into danger;
  • obey the law, including traffic rules, trespass and curfew rules, and the rules of any park or campus you play in;
  • never play while driving or riding anything;
  • stop the game when anyone is hurt or in danger.

The map shows the zone a host drew; it doesn't know about traffic, hazards, private land or local rules. Hosts are responsible for choosing a safe, lawful zone, and every player is responsible for where they go.

Fair play

Don't:

  • fake or spoof your location, or use a vehicle to move;
  • use modified apps, scripts, bots or anything that automates play or reads data the game doesn't show you;
  • exploit bugs, or interfere with or overload our servers;
  • claim tags that didn't happen, or confirm or dispute claims dishonestly.

We detect some of this automatically and flag it to the host. Cheating can get you removed from a game or banned.

Names, photos and chat

Your display name, profile photo, chat messages and callouts are yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store them, show them to the players in your games, and review them for safety, only as needed to run Manhunt. The license ends when the content is deleted.

Don't post content that:

  • harasses, threatens, bullies or demeans anyone, or is hateful or sexual;
  • impersonates someone or shares someone else's personal information (like their address or phone number);
  • is illegal, or that you don't have the right to share;
  • shows someone in your photo who isn't you.

Reports and bans

You can report a player or a message from inside the app, and block anyone. Every report reaches a person. We may remove content, remove players from games, or suspend or ban accounts and devices that break these terms, with or without warning. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive players: we act on reports within 24 hours, remove the content and ban the account responsible. If you think we got it wrong, email admin@zinance.app.

The service

  • Manhunt is free. There are no purchases, subscriptions or ads in the app today.
  • Coins and items exist only inside a game, reset when it ends, and have no money value.
  • We keep improving Manhunt, so features, rules and item balance can change, and we may pause or end the service. Updates may be required to keep playing.
  • The Manhunt name, logo, app and website belong to us. You may use them only to play and to share invites and replays.

App Store terms

If you got Manhunt from Apple's App Store:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app, its content, maintenance and support, and for handling any claims about it (including product liability, legal compliance and intellectual property claims).
  • Your license is a personal, non-transferable right to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store's Usage Rules.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • You confirm that you're not in a country under a U.S. government embargo or on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Disclaimers and liability

Manhunt is provided "as is" and "as available". GPS, networks and phones aren't perfect, so positions, timers and tags can be wrong or delayed, and we don't promise the service will always be available or error-free.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for any injury, loss or damage that comes from playing Manhunt in the real world, from other players' conduct, or from indirect or consequential losses. Where the law doesn't allow us to exclude liability, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months or CAD $100. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

You agree to cover our losses and reasonable legal costs from any claim brought against us because of how you played, what you posted, or your breaking these terms or the law.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you have a dispute with us, email admin@zinance.app first and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. If we can't, the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the consumer law of the place you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.

Ending, changes, contact

You can stop playing and delete your account any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. If we change these terms we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app about significant changes; using Manhunt after that means you accept them.

These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Manhunt. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.

Questions: admin@zinance.app. If you need a postal address to send a formal legal notice, email us and we'll provide one.
